From the Kitchen to the Table, The Kitchen Store in Orangeville

Demos, staff picks and sweet potatoes.

Emile Henry Baing PansFrom the Kitchen to the Table is happy to be celebrating its 15th Christmas season as your neighbourhood gourmet kitchen and tableware store. Thank you to all our valued customers who choose to shop local and support independent merchants. We have always enjoyed providing our customers with knowledge and experience about our products so that you make an informed and thoughtful purchase.

In this newsletter you will find our ‘Staff Picks’. Each staff member has chosen their favourite product from the store to share with you as a suggestion when holiday shopping. As you can imagine, we’ve tried out many gadgets in our own kitchens so it is from personal experience that we can vouch for these items. We hope that you will love them as much as we do.

We are always excited to offer in-store demos and hope that you will join us on December 1st, 8th and 15th between 11am and 3pm for “how to use it” and great sale prices. Hope to see you in the store soon to wish you, in person, the best of the season.

Trudeau Stress Less Tools

Trudeau Stress Less Automatic Corkscrew

Part of Trudeau’s Stress Less line of ergonomic kitchen tools, this automatic lever corkscrew simplifies opening a bottle of wine. This product is ideal for persons with arthritis or limited dexterity. With a simple twisting motion, cut the bottle’s foil with the foil cutter built into the base.

Next, fit the corkscrew on top of the bottle, push down the lever and pull up to remove the cork from the bottle. The firm lever grip requires less leverage and effort to pull the cork, and the cork is automatically removed from the tempered steel spiral.

Did You Know

  • Figgy pudding, as referred to in the Christmas carol, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”, is a traditional English steamed pudding that includes dried figs and a splash of brandy. It is similar in texture to bread pudding.
  • Christmas crackers are said to have been invented in 1847 by a London confectioner as a promotional way to sell his bon-bons. He was inspired to add the crackle effect after he had thrown a log onto the fire.
  • In Great Britain and other countries such as Ireland, mince pies are seen as a favourite treat of Father Christmas. Mince pies are a British festive sweet pastry, filed with a preserve typically containing apple, dried fruits (such as raisins and sultanas) and spices.
  • ’Nog’ is an English word for strong ale, and eggnog is said to have been originally made with ale.
