Summertime Cocktails and Blender Drinks
Summertime cocktails made easy!
Summer’s the time to enjoy long, cool drinks on the patio. Here are a few classic summertime cocktail recipes.
Margarita from Krups
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup Tequila
- 2/3 cup lime or lemon juice
- 1/3 cup Cointreau liquor
- 2 cups ice cubes
Method:
Crush the ice with the AUTO ICE function, place the rest of the ingredients into the glass jar and blend at STIR. You can also proceed with only one key: pour all the ingredients into the blender's jar and blend at LIQUIFY.
Serve immediately in glasses, the rims of which have been rubbed with citrus rind and then spun in salt.
Pina Colada from Krups
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup light rum
- 1 1/3 cup pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup cream of coconut
- 3 tbsp cream
- 2 cups ice cubes
Method:

Serve immediately in glasses decorated with a piece of pineapple.
Frozen Daiquiri from Krups
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/3 cup sugar syrup
- 2/3 cup light rum
- 1 tbsp maraschino juice
- 2 cups ice cubes
Method:
Crush the ice with the AUTO ICE function; place the rest of the ingredients into the glass jar and blend at STIR. You can also proceed with only one key: pour all the ingredients into the blender's jar and blend at LIQUIFY. Serve immediately in glasses, decorated with a candied cherry and fresh mint leaves.
Variations - you could replace the maraschino juice with:
1/3 cup crème de menthe (Frozen mint daiquiri)
1/4 cup triple-sec &3 slices of pineapple (Frozen pineapple daiquiri)
1/3 cup crème de banana and 1 banana (Frozen banana daiquiri)
1/3 cup grenadine (Frozen pink daiquiri)
New Zealand Slushi from Krups Blender Booklet
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 kiwi fruit
- 2 mangoes
- 2 cups orange juice
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar 10-12 ice cubes
Peel the fruit and cut into pieces.
Place all the ingredients in the blender, close and whiz at speed 4 for 30 seconds.
Decorate the glasses with slices of kiwi fruit and orange, threaded onto a toothpick or cocktail stick.
BERRY LEMONADE
(LIQUOR-LESS)
When life gives you lemons, mix ‘em with berries. Enjoy. Repeat.
- 1 large jigger water
- 1 fresh lemon
- 3-4 fresh raspberries
- 3-4 fresh blueberries
- 2 teaspoons sugar (or 1 small jigger simple syrup)
- 1 splash ginger ale or club soda
Ream juice from lemon into rocks glass. Add water, sugar and berries. Muddle well.
Fill with ice and top with ginger ale or club soda. Garnish with berries.
Bring on the Booze
Add 1 large and 1 small jigger of vodka in place of water.
Blueberry Freezie
- 1 ½ cups frozen blueberries (still frozen)
- 1 ripe banana
- ½ cup white grape juice
- ½ cup vanilla yogurt
- 2 tbsp. honey
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Add additional grape juice to thin, if necessary.
Pink Lemonade
- 6 lemons
- 2 tsp. grenadine syrup
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup crushed ice
Prepare lemons for squeezing by rolling them between the palm of your hand and countertop to break the pulp and produce more juice. Cut lemons in half and squeeze out juice either by hand or using a Krups juicer. Remove any seeds. Pour lemon juice into pitcher. Add grenadine syrup, sugar and water. Stir vigorously until sugar is completely dissolved. Add crushed ice and serve immediately.
Shirley Temple
The classic non-alcoholic cocktail. Add a couple of dashes of grenadine to an ice-filled highball glass and fill with 1/2 orange juice-1/2 seven-up mixture (or to taste). Garnish with cherries and orange slices. Stir and serve.
Safe Sex on the Beach
Into a shaker ½ filled with ice add:
- 1 large shot of peach juice (50 ml)
- 3 large shots of pineapple juice
- 3 large shots of orange juice
- Juice of ½ a lime
Stir and strain into an ice-filled highball glass. Garnish with a lime wedge, strawberry and orange twist.
Red Wine Sangria
Sangria is a red wine punch of Spanish origin and is perfect for casual summer entertaining.
- 1 medium apple, cored and cut into chunks
- 1 medium orange
- 1 bottle of quality red wine
- 1 cup club soda
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 cups orange juice
- ½ cup Cointreau, or any other orange flavoured liqueur
In a large pitcher add the red wine, orange juice, club soda, sugar and orange flavoured liqueur and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Slice the orange into wheels and add to pitcher, along with apple chunks. Chill at least one hour and serve over ice in individual glasses.
Pimms
A summertime drink synonymous with Britain, warm weather and pubs.
- Pimms #1 (gin based)
- Lemonade
- Ice
- Fresh mint leaves
- Lemons, sliced
- Cucumber, sliced
- Ginger beer
- Strawberries, to garnish
Pour the Pimms and lemonade over ice in a boston shaker. Add the ginger beer and ½ strawberry. Add some mint leaves, lemon and cucumber slices to taste. Serve in a wide brimmed glass.
